Tata Punch EV isn’t a hidden concept from us and many of us have been excited for the launch of this electric vehicle. Punch is one of the hottest selling SUVs in India today and many of us have been waiting to see its electric avatar. Like the Nexon.ev we can expect the Punch EV to sport the Punch.ev nameplate. We share all the information that we have on the Punch.ev – so you can get a lot more information on this new electric SUV that is in the making.

Tata Punch EV Design

Tata Punch EV

Not a major change from the current Punch petrol, it will have subtle changes. The DRLs will be connected like the Nexon gets. The headlamps will become all LEDs along with the fog lamps. This will help to reduce power consumption of the battery. There will be some small changes in the design of the Punch for better range. The alloy wheels will also be designed for better range too.

What’s new inside?

Technically the interior styling of the Punch will not change on the electric version. However there will be some subtle changes on the styling and extra features will be offered too. There will be a new 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment on top variant that is made available on the Nexon Fearless variants. This will be bigger than the current one on the Punch petrol. In fact, the UI will be similar to that of the new Nexon.ev. The instrument cluster will be digital too.

So, in short there will be an array of new features on the Punch.ev and Tata will be offering a higher variant on the EV models which won’t be made available at the moment in the Punch petrol. Will they do it in the future? We do not have an answer for it – at the moment.

We are expecting these features to also come on the Punch.ev
– Connected car technology on phone and watch from the base model

– 6 airbags on higher variants

– Leatherette upholstery

– 45W Type C charger

– 360 deg camera

– All 4 disc brakes

Battery Pack:

The Punch.ev is expected to come with the same LFP battery pack that is offered by Tata on its current EV models. There is likely to be a single battery pack on offer of about 26-30kWh. As this is lighter than the Nexon – it shall have better range. The new Gen 2 motor will be offered on the Punch.ev – as it is lighter and more efficient – however the torque of the motor will be restricted. This will mean that the Punch will have a good range, making it extremely practical. We are expecting a claimed range of 330-350km and real life range of 220km from this battery if the motor is detuned.

Tata Punch EV Price in India

Tata Punch EV

It is a bit too early to say what will be the exact pricing of the Punch.ev – we are expecting it to start somewhere in the range of Rs 13.5 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and go about Rs 17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This way it can be a good option for many who are looking at a compact electric SUV. With the Punch coming in – it can pull in a lot of new first-time EV buyers on board. Those who are looking at Tiago.ev or MG Comet – can be pulled to upgrade to this new EV. Have you been waiting for the Punch EV too?
