Kia is steadily making progress in the Indian market, where it aims to expand its presence. During the launch of the Seltos facelift, Kia provided insights into some of its forthcoming products. So, what can we anticipate in terms of new car offerings from Kia? In this article, we will discuss the upcoming Kia vehicles expected until 2025.

Sonet facelift

Upcoming Kia cars - Sonet facelift

The Sonet is the next Kia SUV to get a facelift update. In the facelift, Kia is expected to give some subtle design changes. We could see a different grille and DRL design. Other exterior changes could include new tail lamps and alloy wheels. In the interiors, we could see new upholstery and new features like the heads-up display, 360-degree camera, electric driver seat etc. There are rumours that the Sonet facelift could also come with a camera-based ADAS system. Kia is expected to launch the Sonet facelift by the end of this year or early next year. The Sonet facelift could get a price hike of Rs 50k to 60k depending upon the variants. Currently, the pricing of the Sonet facelift starts from Rs 9.13 lakh and goes to Rs 17.87 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

New-generation Carnival

Upcoming Kia cars - new Carnival

Kia has confirmed that it will be bringing back the Carnival to India. This will not be the model it showcased at the Auto Expo, but rather a facelifted model of this car. From the spy shots, the facelifted model is going to get an even sharper exterior design. Specs-wise, it could come with a 2.2-litre diesel engine capable of producing 197bhp and 440Nm of torque. Feature-wise, it could come with a 12-inch infotainment system, wing-out headrests and a digital instrument cluster. Kia could launch the new Carnival in mid-2024. We can expect the new Carnival to cross the Rs 50 lakh mark (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Kia cars – EV9

Upcoming Kia cars - EV9

Kia is following a top-down approach in the EV sector. In 2022, it launched the EV6, and in 2024 it is going to bring the EV9 to India. Kia showcased the EV9 concept at the Auto Expo 2023. The brand has done a good job of maintaining most of the concept elements. Globally, the EV9 comes with three powertrain options – a RWD, a long-range RWD and a AWD. It remains to be seen what Kia brings to India. The EV9 is expected to come to India in 2024, and it could be priced between Rs 70 lakh to Rs 80 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Carens facelift

Upcoming Kia cars - Carens facelift

The Carens could also get an update in the form of a facelift. The car is yet to be spotted, but we can expect the usual bits like an updated design with new bumpers, headlamps etc. Feature-wise, we can expect a 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable driver seat, electronic parking brake and heads-up display. We could also see ADAS on the Carens facelift. Specs-wise, we don’t think there will be any changes. Kia could launch the Carens facelift in the second half of 2024. We can expect a price hike of Rs 50k to 60k depending upon the variants. Currently, the pricing of the Carens starts from Rs 12.41 lakh and goes to Rs 22.71 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

AY

Kia wants to do something very unique by bringing a new SUV between the Sonet and Seltos. It will be a new car altogether and has been internally codenamed AY. According to reports, it could get a tall-boy design like the Soul sold internationally. It will also get a tough off-roader exterior design separating it from the Seltos and Sonet. The AY will come with ICE and EV powertrains. Kia plans to launch the AY by 2025, but it hasn’t stated if it will bring the EV or ICE first. The AY will come with a plethora of engine and transmission options targeting a wide price between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 27 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming Kia cars – Affordable EV

Kia and Hyundai are working on an affordable EV option. Hyundai is already testing the Creta EV. Considering the similarities between the Creta and Seltos, we can also expect a Seltos EV. It makes sense considering the popularity of EVs. Electric SUVs are still in the early stages of development, so not much is known about their expected specifications. Hyundai is expected to launch the Creta EV by 2025 and Kia could launch it a few months later. This EV could start from Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
