The Maruti Ertiga enjoys a certain monopoly over the affordable 7-seater segment. The launch of Carens did eat up its sales a bit, but not by much. In July, Maruti sold 14,352 units of the Ertiga, completely trouncing the competition. Now there is another 7-seater we are talking about that could take on the Ertiga. It is not the Hyundai Stargazer, but the Renault Jogger. In today’s article, let’s talk about Renault Jogger India.

Design

Renault Jogger front

Renault seels the Jogger through its Dacia subsidiary in Europe. The Jogger received a minor refresh in 2022. The grille was modified to accommodate the new logo giving the car a very modern look. Overall the Jogger looks quite rugged for a 7-seater SUV. Other exterior features include wheel arch protection, front & rear skid plates, usable roof rails and 16-inch alloy wheels.

Renault Jogger India – Interior design

Renault Jogger interior

The Jogger shares its interior design with the 2nd-generation Duster sold in Europe. This design also has a smirk of Nissan Magnite in it. In the centre, we have a floating infotainment system and a contrasting dashboard colour giving it a premium look. The Jogger comes with 7-seater and 6-seater options.

Specifications

In the refresh, Dacia added a new 1.6-litre petrol mild hybrid powertrain on the Jogger. This engine is capable of producing 104bhp and comes with a 4-speed automatic electric gearbox, two attached to the engine and two attached to the electric gearbox. The second engine option is a 1.0-litre turbo that comes with an LPG option too. If the Jogger comes to India, it could come with the 1.0-litre turbo from the Kiger.

Features

In Europe, the Jogger comes with all the necessary features required in a 7-seater. We get AC controls in the second & third row, six airbags, a big infotainment system, cruise controls and charging ports in all rows. It also comes with active safety features like emergency braking assist, blind-spot warning & park assist.

Renault Jogger India – India plans

Renault Jogger India

Renault has been tightlipped about whether it is bringing the Jogger to India. Renault has talked about a new 7-seater, but that could be a bigger 7-seater version of the new Duster and will be expensive. Its Triber is also not doing that well, so maybe Renault should think about bringing the Jogger to India.
