Hyundai’s next car to take on Maruti
The affordable 7-seater has always been a popular segment in the country due to the practicality it offers. However, in the last few years, it has seen a massive boom. Historically, Maruti and Toyota have ruled the roast in this segment. The launch of the Kia Carens showcased that other manufacturers can grab sales. Now seeing this, Hyundai is also expected to bring an affordable car. In today’s article, let’s talk about the next Hyundai car.
Design
Bonnet-wide DRLs have become the new trend in the market. Hyundai seems to be implementing it on all its cars. The Stargazer also comes with a bonnet-wide DRL with a parametric grille below it. Besides this grille, we have the LED headlamps on both sides. In the side profile, we can see the MPV characteristics of the Stargazer with an elongated overhang.
Next Hyundai car – Specifications
The Stargazer sold in Indonesia only comes with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. We expect Hyundai to continue with this engine on the Indian model. Additionally, we could also see the 1.5-litre diesel engine and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that is offered on the Carens. Transmission options will include a range of options from manual to DCT gearbox.
Interior and features
In the South East Asian markets features and interior quality are not paramount as India. So the Stargazer sold their comes with a simple looking dashboard layout. At the centre, we have a floating infotainment system adding some modernity to the cabin. Hyundai has tried using soft touch material on the major touch points. What about the features? The Stargazer comes with connected car technology, wireless charging and roof-mounted AC vents. Globally, Hyundai even offers ADAS on the Stargazer.
Next Hyundai car – Coming to India?
Late last year, Hyundai launched the Stargazer in Indonesia. Since then, it has launched Stargazer in various South East Asian markets. Will Hyundai bring it to India? Hyundai has been quite tightlipped about bringing the Stargazer to India. However, the affordable 7-seater segment is growing at an exponential rate in the country. The sales of Kia Carens should also encourage Hyundai to bring the Stargazer to India.
