Kia Carens electric in the works! Affordable 7-seater EV
Kia in its short stay has made the Indian market its own. The launch of the new Seltos has once again showcased Kia’s marketing planning and how well it has understood the Indian market. Now next up, Kia is planning several EVs to tap into the growth. It is using a top-down approach in the EV segment, with premium models followed by more affordable options. It is working on an affordable electric 7-seater option for the Indian market. In today’s article, let’s talk about this electric 7-seater from Kia.
Spied design
Kia is reportedly working on an electric version of the Kia Carens. This version has been spotted in testing in South Korea. It sported the aerodynamic alloy wheel design Kia employs on its EVs. These alloy wheels help in drag reduction leading to more range. The spied car had some major resemblance to the ICE Carens. We can expect a slightly tweaked front and rear design.
What else to expect?
Specification-wise, this car is still a mystery. Kia will need to develop a new motor and battery, specifically for this EV. It could get a claimed range in the ballpark of 400 to 500km. What else can we expect? In the interior, we can expect blue highlights to go with EV nature. Feature-wise, we could see a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, bigger infotainment system etc.
Kia electric 7-seater – Launch timeline
Kia has repeatedly stated that it plans to launch an electric RV by 2025. Before the electric RV, Kia could launch several new products. This list includes the Sonet facelift, New Carnival and the EV9. There are rumours that Kia has started working on the Carens facelift, and we expect the EV version to come on this facelift model.
