Maruti Innova Hycross spotted testing ahead of launch

Maruti as a manufacturer is known for its affordable cars in the country. It has made its name in the category and is in no mood to slow down. However, Maruti knows as the market matures it will need some premium cars in its portfolio. It has started the process with the Grand Vitara and now it is going a step ahead. For this, it is taking the help of Toyota by rebadging the Innova HyCross. It is rumoured to be named Engage. Yesterday, Maruti revealed its unveil date and now we have spy shots of the MPV. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti Engage MPV. 

How does Maruti sell so many cars in India?

The spy shots were sent to us by one of our subscribers, Sanket Rajput. The car is covered in heavy camouflage, but we can see it’s the Innova HyCross. So why not the Innova HyCross? It is testing under the HR26 nameplate, which is used by Maruti. So can we spot anything new? The tail lamp design is similar, but it is sectioned similarly to the Baleno. The alloy wheel design also looks slightly different.

What else to expect?

Like any other badge-engineered car, the Innova Hycross is expected to come with the same platform and tech from Toyota. It will continue with the regular 2.0-litre pure petrol model (173bhp and 209Nm) and also the 2.0-litre petrol hybrid engine (184bhp and 188Nm of torque) and an eCVT gearbox. In terms of features, it is expected to be the most feature-loaded Maruti car. We could see features like a JBL sound system, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, Ottoman seats, ADAS etc. In design, we can expect some design tweaks and the same can be said about the interior.

Maruti has confirmed that it plans to launch its new MPV on 5th July 2023. Considering the HyCross is already out, we think Maruti will directly launch the car. What about the pricing? Maruti’s iteration could be sold through Maruti’s premium Nexa dealership and we can expect a price similar to the Toyota Innova HyCross.
