The Indian car market is cut-throat for manufacturers. Manufacturers have to be ahead of the curve to survive the complexity. So we see manufacturers bringing in new cars and also facelifts to their existing models. In the next 5 months, we are going to see 5 new cars. In today’s article, let’s talk about upcoming new cars.
Citroen C3 Aircross
Citroen is looking to expand its portfolio at a rapid pace. This year it has already launched the eC3 and is now looking to bring a C-SUV. Citroen is working on making an SUV based on the C3 platform. This SUV could be called the C3 Aircross and is expected to be unveiled on the 27th of April. It is rumoured to come in 5-seater and 7-seater configurations to take on several competitors. It is also expected to be better equipped than the C3 hatchback.
Upcoming new cars – Maruti Jimny
The Jimny was one of the most highly anticipated cars in the Indian market. Maruti took off the wraps of the Jimny 5-door at the Auto expo. This silhouette of the Jimny 5-door is similar to the 3-door variant, but the 5-door version offers better practicality suitable for the Indian market. Maruti claims that the longer wheelbase will not hamper the off-roading capabilities of the Jimny. What about the pricing? Maruti is expected to reveal the pricing of the Jimny 5-door by June or July this year.
MG Comet EV
MG is looking to bring another EV into the country after the ZS EV. But this EV will be unique compared to anything in the market. This EV will be a two-door four-seater car. It is essentially a ‘KEI’ car and is smaller than the Alto. So will it be cheaper than the Tiago EV? MG has stated that it will position the Comet EV as a premium option with well-laid-out interiors. What about the launch timeline? The Comet EV could be launched in the upcoming few years.
Tata Nexon facelift
The best-selling SUV in the Indian market is all set to get a major update. The Nexon is still ruling the charts, but the brand wants to stay ahead of the curve. In this update, the Nexon will get a new front design similar to the Tata Curvv. Also, major changes are expected in the interiors. In the interior, we can expect a bigger infotainment system and a new dashboard layout. There are rumours that the Nexon facelift could come with ADAS. What about the launch? The Nexon facelift is expected to be launched by August 2023.
Upcoming new cars – Kia Seltos facelift
Kia’s entry into the Indian market started with the Seltos. The Seltos had its work cut out taking on the Hyundai Creta. But it not only took on the Creta but consistently matched it in sales. Now Kia is looking to take it to the next level, by bringing its facelift. The Seltos facelift has been spotted testing in India with a refreshed design. In the interiors, we can expect a major upgrade with a new infotainment system and dashboard layout. Also, this facelift is expected to come with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine. What about the launch? The Seltos facelift is expected to be launched in mid-2023.
