Rs 14 lakh Toyota 7-seater coming soon?
Toyota is known for big SUVs and 7-seaters. In India, it has 7-seaters like the Innova Hycross and the Fortuner. Both these 7-seaters are quite popular due to their various USPs. But still, these SUVs don’t come with an affordable price tag. This is something Toyota currently lacks in its product lineup. To fill this, Toyota is working on an affordable 7-seater option. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Toyota 7-seater.
Design
According to reports, Toyota is working on a new 7-seater based on the TNGA-C platform that also underpins the Innova HyCross. The wheelbase could be a bit smaller than the HyCross, but more in line with other C-SUV 7-seaters. Overall, the car is going to take design elements from the Corolla Cross, which is a 5-seater globally. But for India, Toyota could bring its 7-seater version.
Toyota affordable 7-seater – Specifications
Globally the Corolla Cross comes with a 1.8-litre petrol powertrain, but the Indian option could see other options. For India, Toyota might give it the same specifications as the Innova HyCross. So we could see a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated and a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated strong hybrid petrol. This could make the SUV expensive, but the mileage figures could attract buyers.
Features
Of late, Toyota has started loading its car with all the necessary features. We expect the same on this 7-seater. Some of the expected features include an 8 or 9-inch infotainment, heads-up display, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control etc. Safety features could include 6 airbags, ABS + EBD, ESC etc.
Toyota affordable 7-seater – Pricing
As stated above, this car will be based on the TNGA-C platform, which also underpins the Innova HyCross. But we think Toyota will try to cut costs on the wheelbase etc, to price it below the Innova HyCross. What could be the expected pricing? We think this 7-seater could start somewhere around Rs 14 to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), as the Innova HyCross starts from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
