Toyota’s most unique SUV coming soon
Toyota as a manufacturer is known for its SUVs. Globally, it produces several big and small SUVs. However, in India, the brand has been quite circumspect. But since partnering with Maruti, both brands have started exploring new segments. Their next target happens to be the coupe-SUV segment. In today’s article, let’s talk about unique Toyota SUV.
Toyota Fronx?
In April, Maruti launched the Fronx in the Indian market. According to rumours, Toyota is planning to rebadge the Fronx. For context, the Fronx is based on the Baleno. Toyota already sells the rebadged Glanza, so it makes sense for Toyota to sell a rebadged version of the Fronx.
Unique Toyota SUV – What changes?
Like other rebadged cars, Toyota could change the exterior design. Toyota’s coupe SUV could get a front design similar to the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. So we could see eyebrow DRLs and a small grille. Other tweaks could include new bumpers and refreshed headlamps. The side profile should be more or less similar. Rear could see reworked taillamps and bumpers compared to the Fronx.
What could remain the same?
We can expect the same mechanical bits on Toyota’s derivative of the Fronx. Engine-specs-wise, we can expect a 1.2-litre K-series engine capable of producing 87bhp and 113Nm of torque. The second engine will be the 1.0-litre turbo petrol capable of producing 100bhp and 150Nm of torque. What about features? We could see wireless charging, 9.0-inch infotainment, ARKAMYs sound system etc similar to the Fronx.
Unique Toyota SUV – Launch timeline
As stated above, Maruti launched the Fronx in April. Pricing-wise, the Fronx starts from Rs 8.66 lakh and goes to Rs 15.37 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We expect Toyota’s derivative to be priced similarly. Toyota might give an extra warranty to justify the higher cost. What about the launch? Toyota could launch its Fronx derivative by the end of this year.
