The Hyundai Creta has established itself as the best-selling C-SUV in the country, but it was not always like that. Earlier, Creta faced some strong competition from this SUV particularly. Can you guess the SUV? Yes, it’s the Renault Duster. Renault is bringing back the Duster to take on the Creta. Recently the car was first time spotted testing. So it seems the perfect time to talk about the Renault Duster new model. Let’s go.

Spy shots

The spy shots were posted on the Cocespias Auto forum. Renault more specifically Dacia seems to have begun the road testing of the new Duster in Europe. The car is covered in heavy camouflage, but it is easy to guess this is the new Duster from the tail lamp design. The Duster is expected to be based on the Bigster concept, which had similar taillamps. Sides of the car seem similar to the second-generation Duster that didn’t make its way to India. We get a small glimpse of the LED DRL design that resembles the Bigster concept.

What else do we know?

The new Duster will be based on the heavily localised CMF-B platform. This CMF-B platform is being co-developed by Nissan and Renault for the Indian market. So we will be also seeing a badge-engineered version of the Duster from Nissan. According to reports, Renault is also planning to bring a 7-seater derivative of the Duster in the future.

Renault Duster new model – Launch timeline

The Duster is still a few years away from coming to India. Renault plans to launch it in Europe by the end of 2024 or 2025. So the India launch could happen sometime in 2025. Hopefully, Renault gets it right as this segment is one of the most fiercely competed segments in the country. Once launched, the Duster will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara etc.
