The 7-seater segment continues to see a lot of activity in the country. In this too, the affordable segment has started seeing a lot of fierce competition since the launch of the Carens. Even though Carens is yet to beat Ertiga in sales it has closed the gap quite rapidly in the last few months. Now Kia wants to keep up this pace by making the Carens more affordable. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Kia Carens price.

How?

So how exactly is Kia planning to make the Carens affordable? It is planning to bring new base variants of the Carens. The brand has already homologated the new variants as M-Drive and P-Drive. In the P-Drive, Kia has even homologated a 5-seater option which could be a game changer. Currently, the Premium variant of the Carens starts from Rs 12.17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). So with the new variants, the Carens could start below the Rs 10 lakh mark. This will help Kia take on the Maruti Ertiga.

New transmission

Not only the new base variant, but Kia is also looking to rejig the transmission options. Kia has homologated the diesel iMT option for the Kia Carens. According to rumours, Kia is looking to replace the diesel manual with a diesel iMT across all its models. It would also be the first time iMT will be introduced on the Kia Carens. Surprisingly, Kia is not offering the iMT on its petrol variants for the Carens.
