Tata has truly started the EV revolution in the country with the likes of Nexon EV, Tiago EV and the Tigor EV. But at the Expo, Tata showed its bigger ambition with the Harrier EV and the Sierra EV. The Sierra EV is still a few years away, but what about the Harrier EV? According to Tata, it plans to launch the Harrier EV this year. So what will be its price? In today’s article, let’s talk about the Harrier EV price.

Harrier EV price expectations

Jumping straight to the price part, the cost of the batteries and motor will be expensive on the Harrier EV. The Harrier EV will be a mid-size SUV and so it will need bigger batteries and a motor that will bump up the cost. But here comes the twist. Tata can save a lot of taxes on the Harrier EV. Currently, Tata pays 50% tax (28% GST + 22% Cess) on the ICE-Harrier. In comparison, EVs only have 5% taxation. This way Tata can price the Harrier EV somewhere around the ICE Harrier. So what price range can we expect? We think the Harrier EV could start from somewhere around the Rs 27 lakh mark. Its top variants could reach up to Rs 35 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Design

The overall silhouette of the Harrier EV remains identical to the ICE Harrier. That’s a good thing considering the massive road presence of the Harrier. Coming back to the design, the Harrier EV gets a closed-off grille with the Tata logo. Above that, we have a connected DRL design with the headlamps placed lower similar to the ICE Harrier. The side profile gets the EV badging to differentiate it from the ICE model. At the rear, we have connected tail lamps with blacked-out elements in the middle.

Specifications

Tata didn’t reveal the exact specifications of the Harrier EV at the Expo. But the Harrier EV is expected to come with a 60 to 70kWh battery pack. This battery pack should deliver a real-world range of at least 400 to 500km for the Harrier EV to make sense to a buyer. Other than that, we can expect Tata’s Ziptron technology on the Harrier EV.

Harrier EV price – Features

Tata didn’t reveal the interior, but we expect it to come with several new features. Tata could give it all the features that we saw on the Harrier Red Dark edition. So we could see a 10.2-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, powered driver seat, ADAS and voice-activated sunroof. Other than that, we could see the panoramic sunroof, 6 airbags, ESP, ventilated seats, LED headlamps, etc.
