If we talk about the newly launched vehicle, it is certainly an MPV rather than an SUV. However, the looks of this car convey a different message. The HyCross looks bold and stylish from every angle. The front look of the car is largely taken over by the large grille which sits in between the sharp-looking tail lamps. If we move towards the side, we are greeted with flared wheel haunches and a rather muscular-looking side profile. The dimensions of the car are measured at 4755mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1795mm in height. The wheelbase of the car measure 4,850mm. It gets a boot space of 300 litres with all the third rows up.

Talking about Fortuner’s design, it looks like a proper rugged SUV in all aspects. It gets 18-inch fat tyres with large tyre profiles, footrests to climb up inside the car, roof rails and body cladding around the car.

These two engine options are petrol powered only and you only get the choice of CVT auto gearbox.

Though the cars are categorised for different buyers because the Fortuner comes with 4×4 capabilities and is more inclined towards offroading with its ladder frame chassis and other mechanicals. On the other hand, the HyCross is a monocoque MPV with a focus towards comfortable seating and economical drive. 

You can consider the HyCross by saving some bucks and at the same time get more features and technology in the car. However, if you are the buyer who is getting the Fortuner for its bold stance and macho appearance, no other car can match its swag and give you attention. The pricing of the Fortuner starts at Rs 38.92lakh for petrol manual (on-road, Mumbai) and goes all the way to Rs 60.86lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the GR-Sport.
