Mahindra Thar 5-door interior and features revealed
The Thar needs no separate introduction in the automotive scene. It has single handedly increased the popularity of the lifestyle SUV segment. But the current model lacks practicality due to its smaller dimensions. This has forced Mahindra to work on 5-door Thar. We have been writing about the Thar 5-door, but till now, we had little to no idea about the interiors of the car. Now, new spy shots of the Thar 5-door revealing the interiors have surfaced online. In today’s article, let’s talk about Thar 5-door interior and the features revealed.
Thar 5-door interior – spy shots
There has been a flurry of Thar 5-door spy shots in the last few months. These new spy shots give us a sneak peek into the interiors of the Thar 5-door. The interior spy shots are credited to Talking Cars. What can our eagle eyes spot? First up we have a bigger infotainment system cut out and faux carbon fibre on the AC vents. Another changed element is the new centre armrest, which was missing in the 3-door Thar. The rest of the dashboard looks more or less similar to the Thar 3-door. Seats are also the same. Rear seats seem to offer better space and we can also see a good amount of boot space.
What else do we know?
The Thar 5-door is confirmed to be based on the modified ladder-on-frame chassis that underpins the Scorpio-N. Design-wise, it is not getting any major changes over the normal Thar. Mechanically the Thar 5-door could share its engines with the Scorpio-N. So we can expect the Thar 5-door to come with the 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine (200bhp/370Nm) and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine (172bhp/370Nm). Mahindra Thar 5-door could also share its suspension tuning with the Scorpio-N. This could mean a well-controlled and stable ride at high speeds for the Thar 5-door.
Launch timeline
The Thar 5-door could be launched soon, considering the number of times it has been spotted in the last few months. According to reports, Mahindra could unveil the Thar 5-door on 26th January 2023. We don’t know for sure, but that could be a perfect occasion to unveil the car. Mahindra could announce the price a few months after the unveiling.
