Tata Altroz EV range to be this?
Tata Motors have taken several gambles over the years, but its best gamble has to be entering the EV segment. Tata’s plan to convert its existing ICE cars into EVs has given the brand a massive head start. Last month, Tata launched the most affordable EV in India, the Tiago EV. Now Tata’s next EV could be its premium hatchback the Altroz. So what will be the range of the Altroz EV? In today’s article let’s talk about Tata Altroz EV range details.
Tata Altroz EV – Range details
Tata has showcased the Altroz EV at various exhibitions and other platforms, but it has never revealed the specifications. So, what battery option can it get? The Altroz EV is Tata’s premium hatchback and it should get the premium treatment. So we expect it to come with a 30.2kWh battery pack like the Nexon EV prime. This will help Tata differentiate the Altroz EV from the Tiago EV which comes with a 26kWh battery pack. The Nexon EV with the 30.2kWh battery pack gets a claimed range of 312km. We can expect the Altroz EV to give a better range due to better dynamics and lower kerb weight.
What else to expect?
The Altroz EV will continue on the Alfa-Arc Architecture like its ICE counterpart. In terms of design, we expect blue highlights on the exterior and the signature Teal Blue colour, which we see on the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. What about the Motor? Like the battery, it could share its motor with the Nexon EV so we could see a 127bhp motor. In the interiors too, Tata could give blue highlights on the door pads and seats. What about features? It will retain all the features from the top-spec Altroz. Other than that, it could get Regen modes and drive modes.
Launch timeline
Tata has often stated that it can convert any of its ICE cars into an EV at any given moment. So the Altroz EV could make the most sense. The ICE Altroz is selling well, but lower in numbers when compared to the competition. So Tata could look to revive its sales by bringing its EV version. This will also be the first premium EV hatchback in the country. What about the pricing? We can expect the pricing of the Altroz EV to start from Rs 13 lakhs (ex-showroom).
