Tata Tiago EV launched! India’s Most Affordable EV!
Tata has a healthy advantage in the EV segment. It has obtained the early mover’s advantage with its well-planned product launches. The Nexon EV is one of the best-selling EVs in the market, testimony to Tata’s rise in this segment. However, Tata knows it can’t get complacent with its existing lineup. Other manufacturers like Citroen and MG are also bringing affordable EVs. So Tata has today launched the Tiago EV in India. In today’s article, let’s talk about the launched Tata Tiago EV 2022.
Pricing & Variants
The pricing of the Tiago EV starts from Rs 8.48 and goes to Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom), making the Tiago EV the cheapest EV in India. This is the introductory pricing reserved for the first 10,000 customers. Of these 10,000 units, 2000 units are reserved for existing Tata EV customers. Bookings of the Tiago EV will commence in October with deliveries starting from January 2023. The variant lineup includes the XE, XT, XZ, XZ+, and XZ+ Tech Lux. We see further variations depending upon the battery pack and charging option.
Tata Tiago EV 2022 – Design
The overall silhouette of the Tiago EV is identical to the ICE Tiago. Tata has only given subtle changes to the Tiago EV. What are these changes? We have EV badging on the grille and a blue strip below the grille. Other than that, we have a new wheel design.
Battery & Range
The Tiago EV comes with two battery pack options, a 19.2kWh smaller one & a 24kWh bigger one. The 19.2kWh battery pack has an MIDC claimed range of 250km, while the 24kWh battery pack has an MIDC claimed range of 315km. What are the motor figures? The 19.2kWh battery pack comes with a 45kWh motor with 105Nm of torque. The 24kWh battery pack comes with a 55kWh motor with 114Nm of torque. Tiago EV can do the 0-60kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds. Tiago EV comes with four charging options: a 15A socket charger and a 3.3kW AC charger. Fast charging options include a 7.2kW AC home charger capable of fully charging in 3hrs 36 mins. We also have a DC fast charger capable of going 0 to 80% in 57 mins. The battery pack & motor comes with an 8year/1,60,000km warranty.
Tata Tiago EV 2022- Features
Tata has given the Tiago EV a lot of new features compared to the ICE Tiago. The Tiago EV comes with features like cruise control, multi-level regen mode, connected car features and leatherette upholstery. Other features include a 7-inch infotainment system, 8-speaker Harman system and automatic climate control. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX.
