Skoda is the only automaker which is allowed to carry the ‘Monte Carlo’ badging. The badge of an iconic rally race held in Monaco, France. If you see the badging of ‘Monte Carlo’ on a Skoda, then it’s a reflection of the Skoda’s rally heritage in this race. Recently launched in the Skoda Kushaq, the Monte Carlo edition is likely to be seen in one more Skoda. Which is it? Its the Skoda Slavia. What could the Slavia Monte Carlo get? Let’s find out.

Slavia Monte Carlo – Why is it needed?

Slavia Monte Carlo

Skoda and Volkswagen both have their own sedans Slavia and Virtus respectively. These cars are extensively the same with ditto engine options, the same platform and other familiarities. It is so because they are developed under the same India ‘Project 2.0’ plan of these brands. However, if we see the Virtus in its ‘GT line’ trim, it does look menacing. So, this trim is basically Volkswagen’s sporty form.

The Virtus GT gets alloys and roof painted in black, and then we get the smoked-out effect on the headlamps. Moreover, sporty changes are also visible in the interior. On the other hand, the Slavia is not yet available with a sporty avatar and the ‘Monte Carlo’ trim pack could just be the answer.

Changes in the car?

Just like what we have seen in the Kushaq Monte Carlo, the Slavia could be getting the same updates. Exteriors updates like blacked-out treatment on the ORVMs, front grille, door handles, etc are likely to be seen. Other minor updates like red brake callipers, a new alloy wheel design, and the ‘Monte Carlo’ badge on the fender are highly likely. Other than this, Skoda can also give it an all-black treatment with red inserts, sporty red ambient lighting, and aluminium pedals in the interiors. Moreover, you would continue to get stuff like a 10-inch infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and more.

The Slavia Monte Carlo is likely to be available with both engine options. Unlike the Virtus GT which is solely available with the 1.5-litre TSi and DSG gearbox, the Slavia Monte Carlo could be seen across all variants. A similar case can be seen with the Kushaq so Skoda might take the same route with this sedan. Currently, Skoda Slavia is available with a 1.0-litre TSi engine mated to a 6-speed manual or a torque converter AT gearbox. Another option is its 1.5-litre TSi which gets a 6-speed manual and DSG auto gearbox.
