India’s biggest SUV maker has launched some great products like the XUV700 and the Scorpio-N. these two products alone have a pending delivery list of over 2 lakh customers. Yet again, Mahindra is all geared up to bring another SUV for Indian buyers. Before you guess it is the Thar 5-door or the upcoming XUV400 EV, no its not. So, what is still hiding behind the covers? Let’s find out about this new Rs 12 lakh Mahindra SUV.
Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus
The Bolero nameplate has huge respect in the SUV market. It is one of the oldest and also the highest-selling monikers for Mahindra. So, taking advantage of its ever-popular nameplate, Mahindra is going to bring the rebadged version of its TUV300 Plus (discontinued) and christen it as the ‘Bolero Neo Plus’.
12 lakh Mahindra SUV – Design
This new 9-seater Mahindra SUV would adopt the design from the Bolero Neo Plus. The Twin Peaks logo at the front could be placed along with a blacked-out grille with chrome inserts. It will retain the legendary boxy design and a sturdy body-on-frame chassis setup which is synonymous with the Bolero lineup. Other modern bits like the LED DRL, and designated side body line could be identical to the Bolero Neo.
It would measure 4400mm in length, 1835mm in width, and 1812mm in height with a wheelbase of 2680 and ground clearance of 184mm. This new SUV would be from the Bolero Neo resulting in better interior space and increased practicality. The third row would get jumper seats suitable for 4 adults.
Features
Bolero Neo Plus’ feature list is likely to remain the same as the Bolero Neo. So, we can expect similar bits like a side-opening tailgate, all 4 power windows on the centre console, a 7-inch infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, auto start-stop, cooled glove box, and more. Mahindra should give this car a reverse parking camera as standard and a few more features.
12 lakh Mahindra SUV – Specifications
This car is set to come with a 9-seater layout so it must have a powerful engine. Unlike the Bolero Neo’s 1.5-litre diesel, this Neo Plus is touted to get the 2.2-litre mHaWk diesel engine. Moreover, this mHaWk engine could be of the same tune seen in the Scorpio Classic. So, this engine will produce 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. The duty of channeling this power to the wheels could be done with a 6-speed manual transmission only. We could see the addition of the MLD system here on the top variant as it available with the Bolero Neo too.
Launch and Pricing
It is likely to be priced around Rs 13 to 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Mahindra could launch the car next year and possibly unveil it in 4 variants – N4, N8, N10 and N10 (O). Do you think the Bolero Neo Plus needs more features? Let us know in the comments below.
