MG entered the Indian market with its Hector in 2019. The new MG Hector 2022 is confirmed to get a revamped design. The brand has teased the look of the car and the car has already been spotted testing on Indian grounds. In the front, it would get the new Diamond mesh grille, new alloys and a tweaked bumper design. Moving to the rear of the car, it could be largely identical to the current car.

With the new updated Hector, MG will completely change the interior looks. The interior will now look more premium with more soft-touch materials and a modern dashboard layout. The main highlight of the car will become its new 14-inch infotainment system that is placed in a portrait layout. Another highlight will also be a new all-digital instrument cluster. Moreover, we can also expect the addition of ADAS in terms of safety.

MG Hector 2022 is expected to retain the same powertrain options. 1.5-turbo petrol engine that makes 139bhp & 250Nm of torque would mostly continue to be on offer. Currently, this engine can also be availed with 48V mild hybrid tech for more efficiency. Could the hybrid tech see an upgrade? Only time will tell. Another option is the 2.0-litre diesel motor that generates 165bhp & 370Nm of torque. What about the gearbox? You get a 6-speed manual, CVT, and a DCT transmission. MG could add a diesel automatic to the new facelift.

The new generation Hector is likely to be launched by the end of this year. MG could target the upcoming festive season to bring its latest entrant. As far as pricing is concerned, media reports have suggested a price hike of Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variants. This price difference could result in MG selling the new Hector along with the current one. Only time will reveal what the brand plans to do with the Hector nameplate.
