The compact SUV segment is one of the most popular segments in the country. Some of the highest-selling cars in the Indian market belong to this segment. However, in all the buzz and hype, one car that has found itself in the under-rated category is the Mahindra XUV300. The XUV300 is quite a competent product with powerful performance and features, however takes a major beating due to the lack of a proper boot. Its boot is one of the smallest in the segment, which puts it way under its rivals. Reportedly, Mahindra is improving the boot space of the XUV300 with a simple fix. In today’s article, let’s talk about the new XUV300 boot space fix.

XUV300 facelift boot space – How is Mahindra fixing it?

Currently, the XUV300 comes with a 257-litre boot space. It is by far the smallest boot in its category. So, how is Mahindra going to increase it? Structurally, Mahindra is not going to do any changes. Rather it is lowering the spare tyre size. Currently, the XUV300 comes with a full-sized spare tyre (205/65 R16). The updated XUV300 will however come with a space saver 135/90 R16 section tyre. How are we so sure? The recently launched XUV400 comes with this exact space saver tyre. This change is expected to increase the boot space by 20 to 30 litres, which is still less, but something is better than nothing.

Other changes

The XUV300 is soon slated to get a facelift. In this facelift, the XUV300 will come with the new Twin Peaks logo and R17-alloy wheels. Other than this, we don’t expect any major exterior changes. Interiors are also expected to remain the same. What about the specifications? The XUV300 is said to come with a new 1.2-litre mStallion engine. This engine is developed in-house by Mahindra with direct injection and overboost technologies. Diesel engine is expected to be the same.

This new petrol engine will most probably be offered on the higher variants at a price increment of Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000.
