When could Mahindra launch this new EV?

New Mahindra EV – eKUV100
Mahindra had revealed the eKUV100 moniker at the Auto Expo 2020. This car has had been in talks for a long time now and was also spotted on Mahindra’s NEMO App as well undergoing testing on road. As the name suggests, it is the fully electric version of the regular KUV100. Lying in the lower SUV category, this car is highly likely to be an affordable EV option for many anticipated buyers. A good list of features, a decent range battery pack, and all the SUV perks could steer a new group of buyers into the EV category.
Design
The overall design of the eKUV is expected to be similar to the regular model carrying the tall boy stance, body cladding, and the integrated rear door handle. However, the eKUV could come with some minor changes that differentiate it from the regular car. The EV version could get a closed grille with vertical arrow-shaped elements. Other than that, blue inserts in the grille and the alloys are also expected.
New Mahindra EV – Features and Specifications
Mahindra had unveiled the car with a 15.9kWh battery pack that generates an output of 54bhp & 120Nm of torque. This EV is touted to return a range of 150kms which seems decent for a 15.9kWh pack. Moreover, the car is also said to do a full charge in an hour when connected to a fast charger. However, it is still on the fence whether Mahindra could put this battery as it has been reported that the company is facing battery sourcing issues. What about features? It is highly likely that Mahindra could put all the modern-day tech like navigation, infotainment screen with smartphone connectivity, automatic AC, cooled glovebox, and many more to make it more lucrative.

Mahindra could unveil the eKUV100 in the coming months, most probably next year. The brand recently wrapped up the unveil of the XUV400 which will launch next year. The launch of the eKUV100 could revolutionize the EV segment with affordable electric mobility. Moreover, with the car already been spotted on a couple of occasions indicates that the launch might take place in the near future. What about the price? Mahindra could price the eKUV aggressively to captivate buyers who want to go electric on a budget. Moreover, with new entrants like the Citroen C3 EV, Mahindra would definitely want to draw as many buyers as possible towards it.
