Manufacturers are heading towards green mobility and environmentally friendly solutions. Toyota, the world’s largest car manufacturer, is known for its world-class hybrid technology. The newly launched Urban Cruiser HyRyder is the latest offering in the Hybrid stable. Promising strong mileage and power, it also supports the green wave in the automotive sector. However, does it have all to take on its segment leader? Should you buy it over the Hyundai Creta? Let’s compare these both and talk about HyRyder vs Creta.

Design difference

HyRyder vs Creta

Toyota has maintained quite a futuristic look on the HyRyder. Based on Maruti’s Global C platform, it looks bold and maintains a sturdy look. With flanked wheel arches and body cladding, it surely appears as an SUV. The front design of the car contains a split design setup, wherein you get a closed black grille with chrome inserts that extends in a linear pattern with LED DRLs. Moreover, you get roof rails and dual tone black color for the roof.

HyRyder vs Creta

The current selling Creta is a big step over from the first generation. It has created a strong buyer base with its new-age looks and muscular styling. Maintaining its muscular stance it also gets some modern designs. The boomerang-shaped DRLs surround the headlights of the car. Coming at the sides it gets diamond-cut alloys in the flared wheel arches. Overall, it provides ample road presence and styling.

HyRyder vs Creta- Powertrain

HyRyder vs Creta

Toyota Hyryder has the most salient upgrade which none of its rivals offer. It gets a strong hybrid engine comprising a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 177.6-volt battery that generates a combined output of 112bhp. However, this engine only comes mated to a 5-gear CVT gearbox. Mileage figures of this drivetrain are also segment-leading with a claimed mileage of 27.97 kmpl. You also get another 1.5-litre petrol sourced from Maruti with its mild hybrid technology which is known as the NeoDrive. Moreover you also get AWD technology with the HyRyder in the NeoDrive setup.

HyRyder vs Creta

Hyundai Creta has 3 engine options on offer. It also gets 5 different transmission choices for further ease. Talking about Creta’s plus points, the main advantage is its diesel engine. You can get a 1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AT gearbox. The mileage claimed at 21kmpl is commendable but lower than the HyRyder. The other engine options in the Creta include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.4-litre turbo petrol returning a mileage of 13 to 17 kmpl depending on driving conditions.

Features

HyRyder vs Creta

As Maruti and Toyota have developed the HyRyder and Grand Vitara on the same base, the HyRyder comes packed with a long feature list. What excites us is the fact that many features are standard in the HyRyder. You get features like hill hold control, vehicle stability management, 17-inch wheels, and all 4 discs as standard in the HyRyder. Other than that you get a premium Arkamys sound system, 360-degree camera, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof, and more. The HyRyder has not yet been tested but it is highly like to score good results. Based on the global C platform of the Brezza, NCAP has predicted that cars based on this platform could return a similar safety rating as the 4-star Brezza.

HyRyder vs Creta

Moving on to the Korean car, Creta has always been a feature-loaded product. The Creta also gets similar features to the HyRyder but it gets a few extra. Creta gets a powered driver seat, wireless android auto apple car play, and electronic parking brake which are not available in the Urban Cruiser HyRyder. Talking about safety, Creta has achieved 3 stars from the G-NCAP and has safety features like ABS with EBD, ESC, VSM, 6 airbags, ISOFIX anchors, etc.

HyRyder vs Creta

Prices of the HyRyder are out and it starts from Rs 15.11 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in 4 variants, it goes all the way up to Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom, prices) for the top V variant.
