Affordable MPVs have always made a splash in the market. Companies like Toyota, Maruti, and Kia have their top-selling MPVs in the country whereas many other brands have also started to gain traction in this segment. Larger family car buyers now have plenty of options and the options are likely to grow in the coming time. This segment is gaining sales in no time thus pushing manufacturers to launch new products. However, there are many such products available in the global market that could turn out very successful in our market. So, here we have a list of affordable 7-seater MPVs that we want in India.

Toyota Calya

Available in the Indonesian market, Toyota should consider bringing the updated Calya to the country. This new MPV comes with a conventional MPV-like design on the exterior as well as the interior. The interiors of the car are rational with nothing fancy. However, it has a dash-mounted gear lever for spacious front seating. It is an entry-level MPV from Toyota that can take on the likes of the Renault Triber. Toyota has packed in a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates 87bhp & 108Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done either by a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

Hyundai is expected to launch its new Stargazer MPV in more South Asian countries in the coming time. Whether it could come to India is still a question but we can anticipate, looking at its price and features. It takes a lot design inspiration from the brand’s premium Staria MPV. The car is packed with some nifty features like wireless charging, roof-mounted AC vents, etc. Coming on to the engine specifications, it is only available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine in Indonesian markets. If Hyundai ever plans to bring it to India, it could have similar engine options to the Kia Carens.

Citroen MPV

The French automaker is gradually gaining pace in the Indian market. It is also touted that it could bring an MPV to the country. Now, the Berlingo could be one option that could directly make its way to India, however, that cannot be confirmed as of now. Citroen has been testing the Berlingo on Indian soil, insinuating that it may launch in near future. Although the details of this MPV are slim, our internal sources have indicated that it will borrow its front fascia from the C3. Moreover, it would most likely come powered by the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Affordable 7-seater MPVsRenault Jogger

Renault has played its cards in the MPV segment. It launched the Lodgy and the Triber in the Indian market. The Triber turned out to be a successful card whereas the Lodgy failed to impress the Indian audience. It has one more trick under its sleeves that could bank some business. The new Jogger is the most affordable 7-seater MPV from Renault. Unlike the Lodgy, the Jogger looks more modern with Y-shaped DRLs, a shark fin antenna, and some modern bits. It is based on the modern CMF-B platform that shares the modern design language of the brand. Moving to the powertrain setup, it gets the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol for the global market and we expect it to get the same unit if it comes to India.
