The MPV segment in India has become quite lucrative with launches of recent cars like the Carens and XL6. Buyers are opting for this segment for increased practicality and space. The Ertiga CNG is continuing to be a top seller in the segment but other brands are also in line to bring in their MPVs. Citroen is one such carmaker who is planning to bring its MPV to the Indian car market. What could this Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens competition be like? We would tell you in this article.

Design

In terms of design, this MPV is expected to derive its lines and curves from other Citroen cars. The front look of the car is expected to be similar to the C3. It could borrow the headlamp design and other styling bits straight from the hatchback. Looking like a proper European van, this new MPV could get one unique prospect compared to its rivals. What could it be? It could get sliding doors for increased practicality. It could be a comfortable feature to have for easy ingress and egress. Citroen will focus on the practicality of its MPV.

Although, being an MPV, the car would also have roof rails, contoured wheel arches, and sturdy claddings on the body of the car. Space inside the cabin would mostly be generous for seating 7 to 8 passengers. There are some chances that this MPV could resemble the Berlingo, however nothing can be confirmed as of now. This MPV has been spotted testing on a couple of occasions.

Features & Specifications

The Berlingo has been spotted testing in India on multiple occasions. This MPV would mostly come powered by the new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which powers the C3 as well. Since Kia is currently offering a huge list of features on its Carens, Citroen should also look to load the Berlingo consistently. Moreover, we expect features like connected car tech, a big infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, and many more. We also expect this Citroen MPV to pay special attention to suspension tuning for a comfortable ride.

Maruti Ertiga competitionLaunch and Pricing

Citroen has nailed it with the pricing of its C3. Citroen has priced its Indian portfolio on the aggressive side. Now, if they want to gain presence in the MPV segment, the Berlingo also may continue to be priced economically, somewhere between Rs 9 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). There is no official detail regarding the launch of the car but it is highly likely to be an appropriate car for the Indian market.
