Tata Motors is on a roll in the sales chart. Its ICE cars have done wonders for the brand, but the real surprise is how much the EVs have contributed to its success. The Nexon EV (now Nexon EV Prime) is the best-selling electric car in India. Along with the Nexon EV Prime, Tata also has the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV Max in its electric artillery. So what more can Tata add to the EV space? Most probably, the Altroz EV would be the next EV from Tata. After the Altroz EV, Tata’s next conversion could be the Punch. In today’s article, we will talk about Tata’s new electric SUV.

What can we expect?

The Punch EV will continue on Tata’s Alfa Arc platform. This is quite a versatile platform, and Tata has been fully utilising it in its newer cars. What about the design? The Punch EV will get some subtle changes over the normal Punch. The most obvious change will be the addition of EV badging on the exterior. Apart from this, Tata would mostly add its EV-specific Teal Blue colour to the Punch EV. Also, we could see some blue highlights on the exterior. What about the interiors? The interiors will also get some blue highlights like the exterior. In terms of features, it could borrow most of them from the regular Punch. Could there be something extra? Only time will tell, but considering there is still a significant amount of time left before the launch, we can expect some new additions to the car.

Motor and battery capacity

Like other Tata EVs, the Punch EV will sport Tata’s Ziptron technology. Predicting the EV specifications is a bit difficult, but the Punch EV will most likely share its specifications with the Tigor EV. So it could get the 73bhp motor from the Tigor. What about the battery? It could be the 26kWh battery pack like the Tigor. The Tigor EV has a claimed range of 306km, so we can expect the same from the Punch EV. The Punch EV could prove to be an ideal city car with its compact dimensions and range.
