Skoda and Volkswagen are sister companies and both plan to launch their electric SUVs in India. Volkswagen has the ID.4 whereas Skoda would name it Enyaq. Both SUVs would be the same car underneath just like the Slavia and the Virtus. Talking about the features, both would be getting a variety of premium features inside. Globally, these cars have a claimed range of 520km on a full charge. Skoda Enyaq and Volkswagen ID.4 in India would be competing with the Kia EV6 and upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 5. We expect them to come with a price tag of somewhere between Rs 45 lakh to Rs 50 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

Note – The Skoda Enyaq has already been spotted testing in India recently. Many have sighted the Skoda EV in and around Mumbai. We have already written a detail article on that. You can check it out by clicking on the link below.

BYD Atto 3

Upcoming Electric SUVs

BYD is a new electric vehicle seller in India. They had launched the BYD E6 for the Indian market but the electric MPV was limited for commercial side of things. The brand is now planning to launch a new electric vehicle called the Atto 3 in India. It is a five-seater SUV with a company-claimed range of 420km when fully charged. Globally, it has a pricing of around Rs 35 lakhs. We expect the pricing to be slightly higher in India due to the various taxations. It would be competing with the cars like Tata Nexon EV Max, Hyundai Kona EV, and MG ZS EV. Would you be interested in considering a MG ZS EV or a Tata Nexon EV Max rival for more than Rs 35 lakh? Let us know what you think in the comments!

MG Nexon EV rival

Upcoming Electric SUVs

MG is one of the initial companies that jumped in the electric vehicle market when others were still planning to. So they have had quite an experience about the electric vehicle game in India. This is the reason why the brand decided to bring a Nexon EV rival (confuse it not with the Nexon EV Max). Looking at the success of Nexon EV, the brand did realise that quite a huge market lies in the sub-Rs 20 lakh bracket when people look for an EV. This is the reason why the new MG EV will be positioned around Rs 18 lakh to take on the Nexon EV. We expect it to be the toned-down version of their ZS EV. The MG EV is expected to come with Nexon EV-like dimensions. We can expect a claimed range of above 300km on a charge.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Upcoming Electric SUVs

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a premium electric SUV from the brand. The Ioniq 5 SUV has a very striking, futuristic design language. It is on sales overseas and we will see it in India very soon. This car in India is expected to get features like premium sound system, two big 12.25-inch displays, connected car technology, ADAS level two, and a lot more. It would be the most costly Hyundai car with an expected price between Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 60 lakhs.

Upcoming electric SUVs – Maruti Toyota mid-size EV

Upcoming Electric SUVs

Currently, Maruti in India doesn’t have any electric car. However, Toyota has electric vehicle technology and with the tie-up between Maruti and Toyota, both the companies are working on an electric SUV. The first one will be a mid-size SUV and not a hatchback what most people were expecting from Maruti. Looking at the current shift of focus on features from Maruti, we can expect a decent amount of features from these cars as well. The mid-size electric SUV would have a claimed range of somewhere between 400km to 500km. The EV is touted to launch by 2025. However, it might be priced competitively, starting from somewhere around Rs 15 lakhs.

The AC charger would take around 6 hrs for a full charge while with DC fast charging, it is expected to go from 0 to 80 percent in an hour.
