Another Skoda SUV coming to India! Crazy pricing?
The EV sector is seeing some activity with manufacturers launching their new electric cars. Last month, Kia India launched the EV6, the brand’s marquee EV. Currently, the EV6 has no mass-market rival barring the BMW i4. So what’s next in the premium EV segment? Hyundai is all set to bring its IONIQ 5 to India. Even Skoda is working on bringing the Enyaq iV to India. Skoda’s entry into the EV segment could spice things up because it will be a pure German-bred SUV that we will get to see in India. In June, the Enyaq iV was also spotted testing in Mumbai. So, what will this SUV offer and how could its pricing be crazy? In today’s article, we will be talking about this premium Skoda SUV for India.
Dimensions & design
The Enyaq iV is a big SUV. Dimension-wise, the Enyaq iV is 4,648mm in length, 1,877mm in width & 1,618mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2765mm. Its dimensions are similar to the Kodiaq, but the Enyaq iV is strictly a 5-seater whereas the Kodiaq is a 7-seater. What about the design? The Enyaq iV looks like any other new-age Skoda car with an aggressive grille and slim head lamps & tail lamps. The Enyaq iV gets a lot of sharp elements with creases and cuts. It even gets 19-inch alloy wheels.

The interiors of the Enyaq look very premium, thanks to a clean dashboard layout. In the centre, we have a big 13-inch floating infotainment system. The digital instrument cluster is nicely enclosed behind the steering wheel. Other interior highlights include rectangular AC vents, leather & microfibre fabric upholstery and stitching on the seats. The interior appeal is enhanced by multi-colour ambient lighting.
Specifications
Globally, the Enyaq comes in various powertrain options, but the Enyaq spotted in India was the 80X variant. So what is special about this variant? The 80X is Enyaq’s iV highest powertrain specification. It comes with a large 77kWh battery pack giving it a range of 513km (WLTP cycle). Also, it gets dual motors for AWD capabilities giving it a power output of 265bhp.

Skoda has been hinting that it will launch the Enyaq iV in India. According to rumours, Skoda could unveil the Enyaq iV at the Auto Expo 2023. The Enyaq iV will come via the CBU route under the 2,500 unit rule, exempting it from homologation in India.
What about the pricing? It is expected to be on the expensive side as it will mostly come via the CBU route. We expect it to start from somewhere between Rs 45 lakhs to 50 lakhs (ex-showroom). Now, why is this a CRAZY pricing? If Skoda Enyaq is brought in at this price point, it could become a great option for buyers considering full-size SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas or even the Skoda Kodiaq. At this pricing, Skoda could possibly snatch some ICE sales since the Enyaq would comfortably fall under budget for buyers considering above-mentioned SUVs.
