Skoda is investing a lot of effort and money into the Indian market. These investments are focused on bringing new cars and also improving the brand’s sales support. It recently launched its new sedan, the Slavia. But still, Skoda knows that SUVs are the way forward in India. So it is working on a compact SUV to compete with cars like the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue. In today’s article, we will see Skoda’s compact SUV. 

Skoda’s plan

The sub-four-metre SUV space is quite popular in India. So it comes as no surprise that Skoda wants to enter this segment. Skoda has been actively studying additional models based on the MQB A0 IN platform under its “Project 2.5”. In this project, the compact SUV has been its main priority. Skoda will be also looking to export the SUV to other emerging markets as well. 

Skoda compact SUV – Design

Skoda will follow its traditional design language on this new SUV. So we can expect a front design like the Kushaq and Slavia. The side profile is where we will see the changes due to the compact dimensions. The rear will get the worded Skoda logo and sharp tailgate design. 

Specifications

The Skoda compact SUV will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform like the Kushaq. It will also share a lot of mechanical parts with the Kushaq. Coming to the engine specifications, it will come with a 1.0-litre TSI engine. Skoda can also bring the 1.5-litre TSI, making it one of the most powerful compact SUVs.

Features are an important USP in this segment. We expect this Skoda compact SUV to share several of its features with the Kushaq. So it will get a big infotainment system, Skoda sound system, wireless phone connectivity, an electric sunroof, ventilated seats and much more.
