New Rs 10 lakh 7-seater UV to take on Kia Carens
The entry-level MPV segment is quite profitable in India since buyers have always preferred value for money people-movers due to their practicality. Historically, Maruti has dominated this segment with cars like the Eeco, Ertiga and XL6. Kia took a gamble by challenging this monopoly with its Carens. It’s safe to say that the Carens has found a decent amount of success keeping in mind Maruti’s long-running dominance. So why would Hyundai stay quiet? Hyundai has also been working on an entry-level UV called the Stargazer. The brand recently started teasing the Stargazer which is set to unveil at the 2022 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) in August. So, what all with the Hyundai Stargazer offer? In today’s article, let’s talk about this new Rs 10 lakh Hyundai 7-seater UV.
Design
As mentioned above, Hyundai has already started promotional activities for the Stargazer in Indonesia. These teasers have given us some glimpses into what the Stargazer could look like. For starters, this UV will have a futuristic front design-end design with an LED DRL running across the bonnet. The Stargazer seems to have taken design inspiration from the Hyundai Staria. What else do we know? It will get a glossy grille with headlamps adjacent to it. Coming to the side profile, it seems different from the Carens due it its curvy roofline and short bonnet. At the rear, we have tail lamps running across the entire width, just like the front.
New Hyundai 7-seater – Interiors and features
Hyundai has partially teased the interiors as well. The Stargazer will get a floating infotainment system. The teaser also revealed captain seats in the second row. What else can we expect? We expect it to get leather upholstery on the dashboard to increase its premiumness. What about features? It is expected to get features like a fully-digital instrument cluster, a sunroof, wireless charging, an electronic parking brake, etc. Hyundai is known for its features, so expecting anything less from the brand is a no-brainer.
Specifications
Hyundai is yet to reveal anything about the engines that will power the Stargazer. However, with the Carens already in the market, what engine options can be expected? We can expect the same engine option as the Carens. So it could get two petrol engines – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated unit and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit. The diesel engine is expected to be the 1.5-litre unit. Automatic and manual transmission options are expected to be made available for all engines.
New Hyundai 7-seater – India launch?
Hyundai will first be revealing the Stargazer in Indonesia. After that, it is expected to launch the Stargazer in other south east Asian countries. What about the Indian market? Hyundai has not confirmed anything, but looking at the success of Carens, the brand is expected to be considering the Stargazer for India.
