Honda is the only manufacturer that has no SUVs in the market as of today. This has severely affected its sales. Thankfully, Honda is now working on not one, but two new SUVs, focused on the Indian market. So what are these two new SUVs? One will be a compact SUV, while the other would be a Creta rivalling product. Yes, you heard it right, Honda will be taking on the Hyundai Creta. So what do we know so far about the Honda Creta rival? Let’s find out in today’s article.

Platform and dimensions

Honda Creta rival

Honda’s Creta rival is expected to share its underpinnings with the City. How big will it be? To compete with the Creta, the Honda SUV needs to be at least 4.3m in length. For accurate dimensions, we will have to wait for the official launch. The City platform has been a tested one. Moreover, sharing of platforms would really help Honda in keeping the costs in check.

Design

The car is still in its early stages of development, so it’s hard to comment on its design. However, the SUV could take strong inspiration from the RS concept displayed by the brand at various auto shows. We expect Honda to keep the styling modern with muscular front grille and lots of creases and curves.

Honda Creta rival – Specifications

We expect this SUV to sport the same engine options like the Honda City. So, we expect to see the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options on offer. Will these engines be enough for a Creta rivalling SUV? Only time will tell. Honda could re-tune the engines to produce more power.

Features

Honda Creta rival

Features have become a part & parcel of this segment. So Honda will have to up its game in this aspect. What are some of the expected features? It could get an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), a panoramic sunroof, a big infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, etc. Honda could bring some sort of segment-first feature to enhance its value-for-money quotient.
