Features have become an important USP in India, more so in this segment. Recent spy images of the interior reveal some important features like a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, push button start-stop and 360-degree parking camera. What else can we expect? Other expected features include ventilated seats, a sunroof, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, etc. As far as segment first features are concerned, the spy shot didn’t reveal much but we expect Maruti to give YFG some sort of segment-first elements in order to differentiate from the established players.

What will power it?

It’s hard to predict the exact specifications of the YFG but we expect it to come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired to a strong hybrid system. If this happens, it will be the first car (along with the Toyota SUV) in its segment to offer a strong hybrid setup. Could there be another engine option? Maruti could offer another setup for the lower variants but noting can be confirmed as of now. Manual and automatic transmission options will mostly be on offer. Maruti although has developed a new 6-speed torque converter unit, there are reports that a CVT gearbox can also be on offer. Only time will reveal the exact details of this car.
