The electric revolution seems to be speeding up in India. Yesterday, we saw Kia launching the EV6. The EV6 is Kia’s marquee EV. So what’s next for the electric ecosystem after the Kia EV6? Skoda seems to be another manufacturer planning to enter the EV segment with a bang. A new Skoda electric car has been spotted testing in India. These images were uploaded on ‘carcrazy.india’ Instagram handle. In today’s article, we will talk about this Skoda electric SUV.
What was spotted?
A Skoda electric car was spotted testing in Mumbai. This electric car is none other than the Skoda Enyaq iV. The Enyaq iV was the brand’s first all-electric product. Skoda seems to have imported the Enyaq for testing purposes. Read on for more information.
Skoda electric SUV- Dimensions and design
The Enyaq is based on the VW Group’s MEB Born Electric platform. Interestingly, Mahindra recently signed a deal with VW to understand this platform. Coming back to the Enyaq iV, it is 4,648mm in length, 1,877mm in width and 1,618mm in height. What about the design? The Enyaq looks like any other new-age Skoda car with that aggressive grille. It gets a lot of cuts & creases giving it a sharp design.
Specifications
The Enyaq comes in various trims, but the one spotted in India is an 80x variant. So what is special about this variant? This variant comes with a large 77kWh battery giving it a range of 513km (WLTP cycle). It gets dual motors one each for the axle giving it AWD capabilities. These motors give it a power output of 265bhp. The Enyaq 80x can do a 0-100kmph sprint in 6.9 seconds.
Skoda electric SUV – Launch details
Skoda has been hinting that it will launch the Enyaq in India. Skoda might launch the Enyaq at Auto Expo 2023. So what could its pricing be? It is expected to be on the expensive side as it will be coming via the Completely Built Unit (CBU) route. But if the car gets a good response, Skoda might take the CKD route in the future to bring down the costs.
