Well, who doesn’t know about the Creta in India? The Hyundai Creta is one of the major reasons for the hyped SUV craze in our country. It has done so by offering multiple segment-first features and a variety of engine & transmission options. But now, the competition has heated up a lot in this segment. Newer entrants like MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, etc. have taken away atleast some portion of the sales from this SUV. To counter this, Hyundai will be giving the Creta a major facelift sometime next year. So how will the new Hyundai Creta change the segment? In today’s article, let’s find out.

New design

The Creta facelift will get a big design refresh. This new design is more in line with the new-generation Tucson’s ‘Sensous Sportiness’. The new Creta gets a jewel-shaped grille that has similarly shaped DRLs. Then we have headlamps placed on the bumper with a more rectangular design. In the side profile, we don’t have any major changes. Coming to the rear, it gets a new tailgate design with new tail lamps. Do you look this new design language on the Creta?

New Hyundai Creta – ADAS

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is a feature that is quickly becoming something everyone wants in their cars. As a feature, ADAS has a lot of safety benefits. The Creta launched in Indonesia comes with ADAS functionality. Hyundai could also bring this to India to improve its safety quotient. Features like forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane following assist and blind-spot monitoring could get added to the list of all overall features.

More new features

The Creta comes with so many features that it raises the question of what new can Hyundai possibly add? Hyundai in Indonesia has given it a new instrument cluster like the one on the Alcazar. On the Indian-spec Creta, Hyundai can add more features like a 360-degree camera and a heads-up display along with a fully-digital instrument cluster, multi-colour ambient lighting, etc.

So will Hyundai change the engine specifications on the new Creta? It is highly unlikely, considering this is a facelift. So it will mostly continue with the same engine options. It will come with two petrol engines: 1.5-litre naturally aspirated and 1.4-litre turbo petrol. The 1.5-litre diesel is expected to continue doing its duties as well.

Whether the Hyundai Creta changes the segment or not is something that only time will tell, however one thing that can be said with confidence is that the new Creta will definitely make an attempt to claim the ‘segment-king’ title back.
