Constantly rising fuel prices have forced everyone to consider alternative fuel options. Currently, CNG seems to be the best alternative option considering its availability and ease of use. But CNG options in the premium category are close to none in the market. However, this is soon going to change as a lot of manufacturers are planning to launch their CNG cars. One of our readers recently spotted a Hyundai Alcazar CNG undergoing ARAI testing. In today’s article, let’s find out more about the Hyundai Alcazar CNG.

What was spotted?

Hyundai Alcazar CNG

The Alcazar was spotted in Pune by one of our readers Tanveer. This Alcazar is sporting some camouflage on boot openings. Other than that, we can see test equipments attached to the boot. This equipment seems to be an emission monitor. We can also see an ARAI testing sticker on the rear windshield.

What could this be?

Hyundai Alcazar CNG

This could well be Hyundai testing the, CNG variant of the Alcazar. Recently the Kia Carens CNG was also spotted testing. So it makes sense that Hyundai will be doing the same with the Alcazar. Hyundai Alcazar CNG will be the first in its segment to get a factory-fitted CNG. Kia was testing the CNG on the top-end variant of the Carens. So Kia and Hyundai can break the usual trend of brands not offering CNG on the top variants and can position CNG variants as premium offerings in the market.

Hyundai Alcazar CNG – What else can we speculate?

Hyundai Alcazar CNG

The Hyundai Alcazar currently comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine. So we expect Hyundai to offer the CNG option on the same engine. Currently, this petrol engine is capable of producing 159bhp and 192Nm of torque. With the CNG kit, power figures are expected to drop. The CNG variant however will mostly be made available with a manual gearbox.
