Should you buy the Hyundai Alcazar over the Tucson?

Hyundai has been doing well with its SUV lineup in India. It has several SUVs available in India, from compact to mid-size. The Hyundai Alcazar is placed between the Creta and the Tucson. Tucson is Hyundai’s flagship offering in India currently. Considering the pricing of both the cars, the question that arises here is whether you should spend extra on the Tucson or buy the Alcazar instead. Dimensions

The Alcazar is 4500mm in length, 1790mm in width and 1675mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2760mm and has a ground clearance of 200m. The Alcazar comes with six & seven seater options. The Tucson is 4480mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1660mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2670mm and has a ground clearance of 190mm. The Tucson is a proper five-seater. 

Hyundai Alcazar vs Tucson specifications

Both the Alcazar and Tucson come with petrol and diesel engine options. Both the cars come with the same 2.0-litre petrol engine. The Tucson has an older version of this engine and is slightly less powerful but makes power at slightly lower RPM.

Coming to the diesel engine, the Alcazar comes with a 1.5-litre engine while the Tucson comes with a 2.0-litre engine. The Alcazar comes with a manual & torque converter gearbox while the Tucson comes with a torque converter gearbox only. The biggest difference between both the cars however is the availability of 4WD. Tucson offers 4WD on some of its variants whereas the Alcazar is a regular FWD SUV.  

Features

Hyundai Alcazar being the latest car comes loaded with the latest bells & whistles. On the other hand, the Tucson being sold in India is the previous generation SUV and lacks a lot of modern features. The cabin of the Tucson misses the charm, something that you get to see on the Alcazar. Tucson also gets a smaller infotainment system and less connected car tech features than the Alcazar. 

Hyundai Alcazar vs Tucson price

The pricing of the Alcazar starts from Rs 19.47 lakh and goes to Rs 24.34 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The pricing of the Tucson, on the other hand, starts from Rs 27.05 lakh and goes to Rs 33.24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). 

Conclusion

The Alcazar should be your choice if you need those extra seats and features. Considering it’s a newer car, it comes with more modern features. Also, you can save a decent amount of money even by buying the top-end variant of the Alcazar. The only case you should buy the Tucson is if you want your car to stand out in the sea of other SUVs. Also, if 4WD is on your priority list, the Tucson will make sense for you. With that being said, Hyundai is all set to bring the new-generation Tucson in 2022. If you can wait, you should definitely wait for the new Tucson.
