Why nobody buys these cars?
The Indian market is expanding at a rapid pace. Car sales have gone up as more & more people are buying new cars. The pandemic did affect the sales, but we are now seeing a revival in the auto industry. Though most cars are enjoying good sales, some cars are struggling in this crucial department. In today’s article, we will see the least selling cars in India.
Mahindra Alturas G4
The least selling car in India currently is the Mahindra Alturas G4. In February, it recorded sales of 27 units. For starters, the Alturas G4 is a rebadged version of the SsangYong Rexton. The main reason people do not buy the Alturas G4 is due to its pricing. The pricing of the Alturas G4 starts from Rs 35.03 lakh and goes to Rs 38.63 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Although it is a great product, buyers are on the lookout for a product with greater badge value at this price point. This is the main reason why this nobody buys this car.
Least selling cars – Hyundai Kona
The Kona is Hyundai’s first electric car in India. In February, it recorded sales of 43 units. The Kona has been plagued with issues that have impacted its sales. For comparison, the ZS EV, which directly competes with the Kona, is raking in good sales. But we think Hyundai can improve its sales as the EV segment matures. Moreover, we are also expecting Hyundai to bring the new Kona EV to India that could resolve the current issue of poor sales.
Citroen C5 Aircross
Citroen’s first car in India, the C5 Aircross, has had a tough start. In February, it recorded sales of 59 units. The C5 is quite a competent product, but is a let down in terms of its pricing. The pricing of the C5 starts from Rs 39.33 lakh and goes till Rs 41.18 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) which is quite high when compared to what its competition has to offer and that too at a lower price.
Least-selling cars – Skoda Kodiaq
The Kodiaq is Skoda’s premium seven-seater offering in India. In February, it recorded sales of 67 units. The price segment in which it sits is ruled by the Toyota Fortuner. The Kodiaq thus has to struggle for sales against Toyota’s full-size SUV.
Skoda Superb
Another Skoda car on the list is the Superb. In February, it recorded sales of 99 units. The sedan segment is seeing a major downfall in India as more people are looking at SUVs. So the Superb is struggling to record good sales figures.
