The Nexon is a high volume seller for Tata Motors. It is one of the best selling cars in the compact SUV segment, competing with the likes of Hyundai Venue and Maruti Brezza. Nexon has been regularly raking over 10k sales in the last few months. Its popularity is mainly due to high safety ratings and features. But like other cars, it’s not perfect. The biggest weakness of the Nexon is its AMT gearbox which is quite laggy and jerky. Other cars in this price range offer good automatics. Some cars also offer a better AMT gearbox than the Nexon. In today’s article, we will see three automatic cars to buy instead of the Tata Nexon AMT.

Tata Punch

Tata Nexon AMT

A Tata AMT you can consider over the Nexon AMT is the Punch AMT. Tata has tuned the AMT gearbox much better on the Punch. Gear Shifts are smoother and offer a better experience than the Nexon AMT. Like the Nexon, the Punch also comes with a 5-star rating from GNCAP. The Punch comes with features like a 7.0-inch infotainment system, a 6-speaker sound system and automatic climate control. The pricing of the Punch starts from Rs 6.75 lakh and goes to Rs 10.98 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Tata Nexon AMT alternative- Maruti Brezza

Tata Nexon AMT

The Brezza is a car that gives tough competition to the Nexon. It is famous for its unmatched reliability and Maruti’s service network. The big plus point of the Brezza is that it comes with a torque converter gearbox. A torque converter gearbox offers quite a smooth ride compared to an AMT gearbox. Another strong point of the Brezza is its 4-star safety rating. It also comes with a lot of practical features like rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, cruise control and a 7.0-inch infotainment system. The pricing of the Brezza starts from Rs 8.95 lakh and goes to Rs 13.36 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Mahindra XUV300

Tata Nexon AMT

The XUV300 is a car that offers everything the Nexon offers but better. It also comes with an AMT gearbox on its petrol and diesel engines. But the AMT gearbox on the XUV300 is better tuned than the Nexon. It does have some lag and jerks but is smoother than the gearbox offered on the Nexon. Like the Nexon, the XUV300 comes with a 5-star rating from GNCAP. It also comes loaded with features like dual-zone climate control, sunroof, rear disc brakes and much more. The pricing of the XUV300 starts from Rs 9.47 lakh and goes to Rs 16.30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
