We are referring to the Citroen C3 here. The C3, although has the appeal of an SUV, the brand is categorising it as a hatchback. As mentioned above, the company says that it is a five-seater, five-door hatchback. So in India, it would compete with the premium hatchbacks. It is a tall, 3.98 metre long car with chunky looks. The car comes with a unique appeal of its own. The coloured accents are typical Citroen style quotient. The C3 gets claddings all over that makes this hatchback the SUV appeal. The overall car is muscular and curvy with modern looks.

Like the exterior, the interior will also get orange accents on the dashboard. The C3 gets a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with all basic connected systems. It has a good-looking three spoked steering wheel with controls for MID and an infotainment system. It gets a fully-digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. Citroen claims that the cabin of the C3 is biggest in its segment. The C3 will offer a wheelbase of 2,540mm with the ground clearance being 180mm.

The Citroen C3 will be built on the CMP modular platform which is jointly developed by Citroen & Jeep. The same platform will be used by the upcoming Jeep Junior as well. The C3 will get two engine options – a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine which makes 81bhp and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 108bhp power. This car will have two transmission options – a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DCT gearbox.

Price and Competition

The Citroen C3 is expected to launch somewhere between Rs 5.50 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs (ex-showroom). It would compete with the Tata Punch directly. Its other competitors in the market will be the premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and the Tata Altroz. Compact SUVs like the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger will also face heat from this hatchback.
