Mahindra had the early movers advantage in the electric space. However, for various reasons, it couldn’t capitalise on this advantage. Now seeing the success of the Tata Nexon & MG Astor, it is looking to re-enter this segment. It is looking to start its EV journey with the electric version of the XUV300. According to rumours, the EV version of the XUV300 will be called XUV400. Now Mahindra has announced the launch timeline of the XUV400. In today’s article, we will see XUV400 launch details.

Mahindra announced that it will be converting a lot of its current SUVs into electric ones. The first SUV to see its electric avatar launch in the market soon will be the XUV300. The XUV400 will be launched in Q3/Q4 of FY22-23. Mahindra confirmed this during the announcement of the Q3 financial results. It also announced it is making a Rs 3000 crore investment towards electric vehicles.

Mahindra had showcased the XUV400 at the Auto Expo 2020. We know that it will get a design similar to the XUV300. It will get a closed-off grille, unique front & rear bumpers and new alloy wheels. Mahindra will also give it some blue highlights to differentiate it as an EV.  

Battery

The XUV400 will come with an electric motor that will churn out 130bhp. It will come with a 40kWh battery pack that will give it a range of around 350km on a single charge. The XUV400 will take six to eight hours for a full charge using a domestic wall socket and 45mins to 60mins on a fast charger.

Mahindra will load the XUV400 with a lot of features to attract customers. Wireless charging, an electric sunroof, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control are some of the prominent features expected. It might also give it some features from the XUV700 in order to enhance its overall value for money quotient.
