Cars are complex machinery that have evolved a lot over the past several decades. What also has evolved are the rumours and myths about cars, especially in the modern time. A lot of this information might have been accurate maybe a decade ago, but it can easily be classified as outdated. Still, people refer to these myths. Premium fuel will increase your performance
Premium fuels don’t have any effect on normal cars. When compared to ordinary fuel, premium fuel is not cleaner or more refined, rather it is more combustible. Only some high-performance cars need premium fuel. You can use regular fuel in your car without worrying about performance loss.
Common car myths busted – Replacing all tyres at the same time
This is a common myth that makes sense, but it’s actually not needed. Just because your one tire needs replacement, it doesn’t mean you need to replace all four. As long as the tyre is from the same brand, model and size, you are safe.
You should warm the car up
Gone are the days when you needed to idle cars before driving them. Modern cars do not need idling before driving. With that being said, it is still better to idle your car for atleast 30 seconds. However, you should not unnecessarily rev the car till the engine gets to its ideal temperature.
You get more fuel in the morning
This is based on the logic that gas is denser at a cooler temperature. So it is a misconception that you can get more fuel if you refuel in the morning. However, this is completely untrue. Generally, fuel is stored in underground tanks, where there is hardly any temperature fluctuation. So you will mostly get the same amount of gas at any time of the day.
Common car myths busted – Nitrogen is better for your tyres
Nitrogen doesn’t have any major advantages over normal air. Its only major advantage is that it leaks slowly compared to regular air. However, if you regularly check your tyres, you shouldn’t pay extra for nitrogen.
