2022 Mahindra Scorpio Sting base variant EXPECTATION
Mahindra is known for its rugged SUV lineup. This image has been built by workhorses like the Bolero and Scorpio. Both these SUVs, although launched a long time ago are still going strong. However, Mahindra is looking to update both of them to cash in on their popularity. The brand has been testing the new Scorpio for quite some time now. It is expected to follow the launch timeline of the Mahindra XUV700 that was launched on 15th of August 2021. We expect Mahindra to call it the ‘Scorpio Sting’. In today’s article, we will see what we can expect from the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio Sting base variant.
Design
The overall design language of the Scorpio Sting is expected to remain the same across all variants. It becomes clear from the camouflaged images, that it will come with a modern & aggressive front design. It will get a big front grille with the new Mahindra logo in the middle. The base model will get halogen headlamps and will miss out on DRLs & fog lamps. Also, it will get black cladding on the bumpers. The base variant will get steel wheels instead of alloys that will be offered on the top variants.
Specifications
We expect Mahindra to give the base variant the same engine and performance figures as the top variants. The Scorpio Sting will come with 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The 2.0-litre engine will get a tune similar to the Thar while the diesel will be a 2.2-litre unit. This unit will most likely get the tune of the XUV700’s base MX variant. Both the engines are expected to come with manual and automatic gearbox options.
2022 Scorpio base variant features
The Scorpio Sting will be loaded with features. We can this expect the base variant to also come with a decent amount of features. It will get an 8.0-inch infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, ISOFIX, adjustable headrests till the second row, tilt-adjustable steering wheel and a four-speaker sound system.
