Maruti Rs 12 lakh car to hurt compact SUV market?
The SUV market is one of the most popular segments in India. There is a lot of demand for all types of SUVs. But Maruti has a potential car that can disrupt the compact SUV segment. This car is the hotly anticipated Jimny 5-door. The 5-door Jimny will be a more practical and family-oriented car for Indian buyers. Maruti Rs 12 lakh car- Design
The Jimny will be built on a ladder on frame chassis to give it good off-road capabilities. The 5-door version of the Jimny will look identical to the 3-door version sold internationally. We also know the dimensions would be about 3850mm in length, 1645mm in width and 1730mm in height. The off-roader will sit on a wheelbase of 2550mm and will have a ground clearance of 210mm.
Specifications
The 5-door version of Jimny is expected to come with the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 101bhp & 130nm of torque. Maruti might retune the engine for more power. Expected transmission options include manual and automatic options.
Maruti Rs 12 lakh car- Features
The Jimny five-door will come decently equipped with features. It is expected to come with basic touchscreen infotainment, LED projector headlamps, airbags and ABS+EBD. The Jimny will get a basic 4WD system. Off-roading wise it will get hill descent control, hill hold and brake limited-slip differential that will aid in off-roading.
Launch and pricing
There is no official confirmation from Maruti regarding the Jimny. But it is working on the 5-door Jimny, we can expect it sometime in 2022. The pricing of the Jimny is expected to start from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It will directly compete with the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
