Maruti to enter a new segment with this Rs 7 lakh car
Maruti has not launched many new cars in the recent past. The major contributor to this has been the Covid-19 pandemic and the chip shortage. But Maruti is working on a sleeve of products to launch in the upcoming years. It is planning to enter a new segment with this new car. This new car will be the YTB that will compete with the Tata Punch. In today’s article, we will see Maruti’s new Rs 7 lakh car.
Maruti Rs 7 lakh car design
Design-wise, the YTB will get a design similar to the Futuro-E concept Maruti had displayed at the auto expo 2020. It will get a design similar to the Baleno with a raised stance giving it an SUV look. The tallboy design will give it more spacious interiors. In the interiors, it will borrow some elements from the Baleno to give them a premium look.
Expected specifications
Like all other Maruti cars, it will be based on the Heartect platform. It is rumoured to be derived from the Baleno. So the YTB is expected to share several components with the Baleno. Engine-wise also it will share engine options with the Baleno. It will get the 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. The second engine will be a 1.2-litre Dualjet engine producing 89bhp and 113nm of torque. Both engines will come with manual and automatic gearbox options. Maruti may also add a mild-hybrid setup on the YTB to increase the mileage.
Maruti Rs 7 lakh car features
Features have become an important selling point in India. Maruti will be looking to provide features like a cooled glovebox, big infotainment system, engine start-stop, automatic climate control, ESP, premium sound system and cruise control.
Expected pricing and launch
The pricing of the YTB is expected to start from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Coming to the launch date, the YTB is still in its early stages of development. For now, Maruti is focusing more on the new-generation Brezza and Baleno. We expect it to be launched somewhere in 2023 or 2024.
