Tata Motors is expanding its product portfolio at a rapid pace. It already has products in almost all major segments. All their cars are either outperforming or matching their competition. The Altroz is one such car that has been matching its competition competitively. It is known for its aggressive design and high safety ratings. However, Tata can yet improve the Altroz by offering more features. One addition could be an automatic transmission for the Altroz. We know that Tata has been planning to bring DCT transmission for the Altroz. We have now obtained new spy shots of Tata Altroz. Let’s find out more about the Tata Altroz DCT 2022 in this article.

What was spotted?

A Tata Altroz with heavy camouflage was spotted by one of our readers. Looking at the heavy camouflage, it is expected that Tata could be giving the Altroz some minor updates for the exterior.

What could it be?

The test mule could also be the Altroz EV as Tata had already shown a prototype at the Auto Expo 2020. But we don’t expect an EV version of the Altroz this soon. So it could either be the DCT or CNG variant. The chances of this being the DCT are higher as Tata recently confirmed on its Twitter page that automatic variants of the Altroz are coming soon. Tata has not confirmed which type of automatic gearbox it will use, but we expect it to be the DCT gearbox.

What will the Tata Altroz DCT 2022 get?

Tata will only offer this DCT gearbox with the 1.2-litre iTurbo petrol engine. Currently, the Altroz only comes with a manual gearbox option. This is one department where Altroz takes a beating from the competition. Updates like DCT badging could be made available with the car. Pricing-wise, the Altroz could cost Rs 1 lakh over the regular i-Turbo manual variants, which start from Rs 9.49 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
