The Seltos has been an important product for Kia India. It helped the brand establish itself in the Indian market. The Seltos is known for its aggressive design and features. The Seltos continues to rake in good sales, but the competition in this segment has gotten fierce. The Seltos need a facelift to take on the competition. In today’s article, we will see this Rs 11 lakh SUV that will shake up the competition.
Rs 11 lakh SUV – Design
The design has always been one of the major USPs for the Seltos. So we don’t expect Kia to give it any radical design changes. Kia might give it subtle changes to differentiate the facelift from the current model. It might get new bumpers, different headlight positioning and new alloy wheels. Dimensions will remain the same as the current model. One major change could be the addition of a panoramic sunroof like the Hyundai Creta.
Interiors and features
The Seltos already comes with well laid out interiors. Kia might give it a bigger touchscreen and electronic parking brake. It can also look to add wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto on its top model, as currently, only the models with the 8.0-inch infotainment unit get wireless. Kia might also give it ADAS functionality to counter the Mahindra XUV700 and MG Astor. The Seltos sold outside India already come with ADAS functionality.
Rs 11 lakh SUV – Specifications
Considering this will be a facelift, we expect Kia to retain the same engine options. The Seltos comes with three engine options. It has two petrol and one diesel engine options. The first petrol engine is 1.4-litre turbo-petrol capable of producing 138bhp & 242Nm of torque. The other petrol engine is a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated unit capable of producing 113bhp & 144Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre capable of producing 113bhp & 250Nm of torque. All three engines come with manual and automatic gearbox options.
Launch and pricing
The Seltos was launched in July of 2019. It has only got a minor update in 2021. So we can expect a proper facelift to launch in the coming time. It could be launched by the end of 2022. We expect to see a bump of close to Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 in pricing over the current models.
