Hatchbacks have always been the preferred choice in the Indian market. They are the prefered choice due to their compact dimensions and practicality. Maruti holds a big share in the hatchback segment. So it is updating its hatchback lineup to increase its sales. It recently updated the Celerio, bringing its new-generation. The next hatchback to get an update will be the Baleno. Recently spy shots of the Baleno were leaked online hinting towards a big update. In today’s article, we will see this Rs 6 lakh hatchback to get a big update.
Rs 6 lakh hatchback design
The spy shots revealed big changes to the exterior of the Baleno. In the front, it gets a new bumper with a big fog lamp. The grille has gotten bigger and stretched till the headlamps. The front bonnet gets a big line that distinguishes the bonnet and grille. At the rear, it gets L-shaped tail lamps extending into the taillamps. It will also get a new alloy wheel design. Though the spy shots looked like a production-ready car still the final car could be different from the spy shots. In the interiors, it is expected to get a new dashboard layout and soft-touch materials. Dimensions-wise it is expected to remain similar to the current model.
Specifications
Maruti is expected to retain the same engine options on the updated Baleno. The Baleno currently comes with a 1.2-litre K12M VVT petrol engine capable of producing 83bhp and 113Nm of torque. The second engine is a 1.2-litre K12N Dualjet engine that produces 90bhp and 115Nm of torque. Maruti might retune the engine to produce more power. Gearbox options will include a manual and a CVT transmission. The updated Baleno might also get a new hybrid tech as all other upcoming Maruti cars.
Rs 6 lakh hatchback features
It is expected to come loaded with features. It will get features like rear AC vents, a new infotainment system, wireless charging, improved MID, fast charging ports, a fully digital instrument cluster and four airbags.
Pricing and launch
The pricing of the Baleno starts from Rs 6.96 lakh and goes to Rs 10.88 lakh(on-road, Mumbai). With the new features and design Maruti is expected to increase the price by Rs 50-60k depending upon the variants. Considering the spy shots, it is expected to be launched early next year.
