Most of Hyundai’s recent success has been due to its SUV lineup however its early success was due to its hatchbacks and sedans. The Verna continues to do decent sales even when the sedan segment is shrinking but now the car feels a bit outdated as it got its last generation change four years ago. Also, with new competition cars like Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus, the competition is expected to heat up. To counter this, Hyundai is working on the new generation of its mid-size sedan the spy shots of which we have received recently. In today’s article, we will discuss this new-generation Hyundai Verna.

What do the images reveal?

New-generation Verna

The photos seem to be taken in South Korea. The car is covered in heavy camouflage, so it is hard to figure out many details but it is clear that the new-generation Verna is borrow the brand’s Sensuous Sportiness design language. The new-generation i20 is based on this design language in the Indian market. The car is expected to be marginally bigger than the current model. At the rear, it is expected to get angular taillamps with a connected reflective strip. Overall the car continues the sleek design of the current generation.

What else is expected?

New-generation Verna

We expect new premium-looking interiors with the Verna. As with all Hyundai cars, it will come loaded with comfort features. Mechanically, we expect Hyundai to retain the same engine and transmission options as the current generation. Hyundai might offer it with mild-hybrid technology to counter the upcoming emission norms.

Expected launch

New-generation Verna

As mentioned above, the Verna got its last generation update in 2017. So looking at Hyundai’s update history, we expect it to unveil the new-generation Verna in 2022. We expect it to come to the Indian market by the end of 2022 or early 2023.
