Skoda has taken the Indian market very seriously in its India specific ” India Project 2.0″. It has already launched the Skoda Kushaq, which was the first car developed under this initiative. But Skoda as a brand is known for its sedans. Skoda has been developing a mid-size sedan to replace the Rapid. It will compete with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. It had already unveiled its name as Salvia and now Skoda has done a global unveiling of this new car. In today’s article, we will see this unveiled Skoda Slavia.

The Slavia gets similar looks to the Octavia and Superb. The front of the car gets sleeking looking LED headlamps with inverted LED DRLs. Rest of the front gets traditional Skoda Grille and fog lamps. In the side profile, it gets design lines like the Rapid. The rear gets wrap around tail lamps that extend into the tailgate. It gets the spelled Skoda logo in the middle, similar to other Skoda cars.

The Slavia gets simple but premium looking interiors. The dashboard gets a glossy look with red highlights.  In the middle, it gets a big infotainment system with rectangular AC vents below them. Other interior highlights include a fully digital instrument cluster and a two-spoke steering wheel. It gets a bootspace of 511-litres.

The Slavia comes with the same engine options as the Kushaq. A 1.0-litre TSI engine capable of producing 113bhp and 175Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a manual and a torque converter gearbox. The other engine is a 1.5-litre TSI engine capable of producing 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a manual and a DSG gearbox.

Skoda Slavia comes loaded with features to take on the competition. It gets features like an electric sunroof, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front ventilated seats, reverse parking camera, wireless charging, 8-inch digital instrument cluster and electric sunroof. Safety features include six airbags, ESP standard, TPMS, rain and light sensors and multi collision braking.

Skoda didn’t reveal the price but it has opened the bookings with deliveries happening next year. We expect the pricing of the Slavia to start from Rs 11 lakh(ex-showroom). The Slavia is offered in five colour options- Candy White, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Tornado Red and Crystal Blue.
