Maruti Suzuki is the biggest manufacturer in the Indian market. It was one of the first car manufacturers to make cars in the Indian market. Being in the market for such a long time, Maruti has launched some iconic cars in India. One such car is the Maruti Zen. The Zen carried forward the momentum from the Maruti 800. Maruti discontinued the Zen in 2006 to make way for newer models. But, now Maruti might bring the Zen nameplate back. In today’s article, we will see this Maruti Zen electric.

Why will Maruti do it?

As mentioned above, the Zen is an iconic car in the Indian market. It was one of the first modern cars from Maruti in India. Maruti might look to bring the nameplate to start its EV journey. Maruti is no stranger to bringing back an old nameplate. It has already done this with the Baleno hatchback. So Maruti can surely bring this iconic nameplate to evoke nostalgia in people.

Why an EV version?

Maruti will bring Zen in its EV avatar to start its EV journey. Considering the EV tech is new, bringing it on an iconic car makes more sense for early adaptation. Also, as a car, Zen was known as a no-maintenance car. EV cars also don’t need that much maintenance, which can be another strong point in the Zen EV’s favour. Currently, Maruti is testing the WagonR EV. If the Maruti Zen Electric is launched it will share most of its components with the WagonR EV.
