Rs 6 Lakh Maruti to rival Tata Punch

Maruti has grown as a reliable band with every product they have launched so far. Maruti is back in the news for developing a new SUV that will be based on its premium hatchback, the Baleno. This car is expected to be a potential rival of the Tata Punch. In this article, we will discuss the new SUV that’s on the drawing boards of Maruti.
Codename and Platform
Maruti Suzuki has code-named the new SUV as “YTB”. The car will be based on the Heartect platform just like the Baleno. Along with good ride and handling, reduced NVH levels will be offered by this car as it’s based on the Heartect platform. This will also add to driving pleasure as well.
Design
The new car from Maruti Suzuki is expected to get a coupe-inspired design. This will be similar to the Futuro-E concept car that was on display during the Auto Expo 2020. The new car will be an overall different car as it will be taller than the current Baleno offering extra space in its interiors. The new car will borrow some design elements from the current Baleno. The car will have spacious and updated interiors when compared to Baleno.
Engine and Transmission
The new car from Maruti is expected to get the same engine that sits under the hood of the Baleno. Currently, Baleno gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 82bhp and 113Nm of torque mated to a five-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The Baleno also gets a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine that produces 89bhp and 113Nm of torque mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Future plans
Maruti Suzuki has some serious plans to manufacture and sell the maximum number of cars this fiscal year. The brand is getting ready to reverse the losses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. They are currently planning a minimum of five cars for better market penetration. The news of the new Celerio coming to India is what makes the “five-car plan” possible for Maruti. New generation Vitara Brezza and Jimny are also expected to be seen in the Indian market soon.
